This report is the result of an investigation of an incident that allegedly occurred in July 2008 in Harrison County, Texas.

I met with the husband, wife, and two children on two separate occasions. The first was to view the cast made of the purported sasquatch track, to take photographs and measurements of the cast, and to see the location where the track was found. The second meeting was to pick up a photo CD with images made of the track prior to its casting.

The track was found by the wife and her son while walking on their property. They own 60 acres of land of which about 25 was recently timbered. Two lanes were cleared by a bulldozer of remaining brush and tree parts. The first lane is about 400' X 60' and the second is about 1000' X 60'. Together they form a figure "L" on the property.

The track was found in the smaller of the cleared areas. Only one track was visible; after examining the soil, I did not find this strange. The dozer had removed much of the top soil down to a clay base which in places was not conducive to an animal leaving an impression. Some of the area was still sandy loam, and it was in one of those locations where the apparent track was found.

The family had estimated that the track was probably 14 inches long, but when I measured the track, I discovered that it actually measured 13 inches in length and it was 5 inches wide at the ball. The heel was four inches in width. The toe was two and one-half inches long and one and one-half inches wide. The length to width ratio was .3846, beyond that normally expected for a human foot but within the range established by other putative but credible sasquatch tracks. The track is not huge, but very few alleged bigfoot tracks in the four-state region have been beyond 14 inches in length. In the AR-LA-TEX-OMA region, it seems more common (as alleged bigfoot tracks go) to find tracks from 12 to 14 inches in length, and 5 to 6 inches in width.

The track itself does not clearly register the third and fourth toe. This was caused by the end of a root laying on the top of the ground under those toes. Attached is a photograph of the track prior to casting, and a photograph of the cast itself.

The husband is a well respected educator in the local community and there are no reasons to suspect their report or the track find to be any kind of a hoax.

During my two visits, I walked the entire property from boundary to boundary without observing any other indications of sasquatch-related activity. I did find tracks of deer, some hog, and with an occasional canid track mixed in. The woods are a mix of pine, some eastern red cedar, and small oaks. In places, the vines are so thick on the trees that it is almost impossible to penetrate on foot. A power line traverses the north end of the acreage. There is no water on the property

As to vocalizations, family members report that they have occasionally heard a low moaning sound coming from their property or from the adjacent land. This usually occurs late in the evening or early night. They had trouble replicating the sound and I remain undecided regarding its source.

The family would like to meet again in the future and would like for their neighbors to also be present. The rationale is that the more people who are aware of what to look and listen for, the better the opportunity for additional legitimate reports from this area.
