"Legend of the Converse Werewolf"

Witness Observation

Witness described a 9 ft werewolf looking creature. He was seen devouring a 15 year old boy son of a local rancher. The rancher was last seen chasing the monster into the woods. This is the basis for the "Legend of the Converse Werewolf". I believe that this was a Bigfoot and was the first recorded killing of a human by one. There is another creek nearby known as "Woman Hollering Creek", where cries similar to that a woman crying or a cougar cry were heard. Last week while teaching at a school near that area a student said his father goes fishing in that creek at night and those screams can still be heard. While exploring the woods all around Bexar county I have found Bigfoot type tree limb shelters. At the time I was puzzled by them as I did not know their significance. Consequently, I believe that Bigfoot still exist in this area.

The creature's face was described as half wolf and half gorilla.

I talked to the witness on 3/03/02. The witness is familiar with the TBRC. He submitted a sighting report, from Bexar County in October 2001. Involving himself with researching Bigfoot sighting reports, and possible active areas from his county, he?s come across some interesting information. He has found Bigfoot type shelters and tree breaks in around the woods in Bexar County. The witness also has been doing research on local legends. This is not a Bigfoot sighting. It is interesting information nonetheless. One in particular is the "Legend of the Converse Werewolf". This is a story that happened sometime in the middle to late 1800?s. The story goes like this: A local rancher had sent his 15-year-old son out hunting into the woods. He told his son not to come back without a kill to show from his hunt. The father was expecting the boy to come home with a deer kill. The boy never came back. Getting late in the night, a search party was organized. When combing the woods the rancher found his son dead and mutilated. A large, hairy creature standing over him. The rancher fired a shot at the creature and chased it into the woods. The rancher never made it back alive. Our witness says that this could have actually been a Bigfoot encounter. Thus, the ?Legend of the Converse Werewolf?. The witness teaches at a local High School in Bexar County. Recently a student in one of his classrooms, much to his surprise, told the same story. The student?s Grandfather owns the land that once belonged to the rancher. The student claims that the incident happened but the rancher was killed days later in a fire at the ranch. Another student came forward with a story about ?Woman Hollering Creek?, in Bexar County. The student?s father was fishing at night there last month. He heard screaming sounds that ended up chasing him out of the area. The witness had told me about ?Woman Hollering Creek? in a previous conversation. The TBRC is going to follow up with other interviews from this report.

Class 1b: A report investigation results in a sasquatch observation or the documentation of clear tracks or other forms of physical evidence by an investigator.
Class 1c: An investigator determines that a visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot by a very reliable observer is a distinct possibility, tangible corroborating evidence is documented, and all other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
Class 1d: A visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot is a distinct possibility involving two or more reliable observers, and all other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
Class 2: Investigator determines that a visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot is a distinct possibility, the observer is exceptionally trustworthy, professionally trained, and experienced in the outdoors and/or is accustomed to looking for and recording details (e.g., biologist, anthropologist/archaeologist, ranger, trapper/tracker/seasoned hunter, bird watcher, game warden, naturalist, law enforcement), and other explanations can be reasonably excluded.
Class 3a: Investigator determines that a visual encounter with a sasquatch/bigfoot is a distinct possibility, the observer is credible, and all other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
Class 3b: Unidentifiable vocalizations were reported and there is accompanying tangible evidence to possibly indicate the presence of a sasquatch/bigfoot, the observer is very reliable, and other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
Class 3c: No visual encounter occurred, but physical evidence was found to indicate the presence of a sasquatch/bigfoot (tracks, hair, scat, etc.), the observer is very reliable, and other sources can be reasonably ruled out.
