The witness told me that when she was 17 she, her boyfriend and a friend were in the White Oak Creek area outside of Sulphur Springs. She said they were sitting there and a large shadow crossed the car, and the car begin to shake. The friend was sitting in the back of the car, which she described him as being a very tough guy, and being approx. 6.5 feet tall, and not afraid of much. While she and her brother were in the front of the car, they did not see what was happening, but they turned around and looked at their friend, and he was slumped over crying in the back seat. He would not tell them what he had seen, and she described him as being in shock after the incident occurred. She said they then started the car up, and speeding out of the area.
Did not stop to check for evidence.

This investigation was conducted as a result of an incident that allegedly occurred in Hopkins County, Texas in October of 1979.
I interviewed the primary witness on 6 February 2002. The incident reportedly occurred between the hours of 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. The temperature ranged from high 60s to the low 70s. The witness stated that the moon was not full, but there was enough moonlight to see shadows.
The location of the incident was between Commerce and Sulphur Springs, Texas on the road that leads to the entrance of Lake Sulphur Springs.
As the witness recalled, she was sitting in a car on the passenger side; two male friends accompanied her, with one on the driver side, and one in the back seat. The witness remembered the radio being on. The witness recalled how the driver supposedly heard a noise and then asked the others if they had heard anything. They turned the radio down at that time, and then reportedly heard a noise like an explosion of some type; it sounded as though it had originated in close proximity to the vehicle. The witness said that moments after they heard the loud noise, a dark, large figure shadowed the car. Nobody in the car could identify what caused the shadow, but it was supposedly large enough to cover the car.
The witness said that all three passengers were quite startled at that time. The witness asked her friend in the back seat if he could see anything. She found him looking back through the back window very scared and sobbing. As they quickly drove out of the area, the friend in the back seat was leaning over with his head in his hands, crying.
When they stopped the car to talk about what just happened, another car came speeding out of the same area. After thinking back, the witness was sure that she and her two friends did not know who was in the other car.
After some time, the witness and her friends realized that the explosion sound that they had heard was actually the sound of a large limb breaking.
I was unable to interview the other two witnesses.
